He warned that the spread of misinformation and rumour poses a serious threat to social fabric, and emphasised that retaining public trust is the foremost duty of the media.</p>
<p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]">Reaffirming the government's commitment to an enabling environment for the press, Mr. Madhav said protecting press freedom is a collective responsibility and that journalists must be able to practise their profession without intimidation or coercion. He expressed the view that a stronger press translates directly into a stronger democracy.</p>
