The orders were issued by Medical and Health Department Principal Secretary Veerapandian. The government has approved a 10 per cent increase for MBBS and BDS house surgeons, 5 per cent for postgraduate medical students and 3.5 per cent for super-speciality students.

Under the new rates, the monthly stipend for house surgeons has increased from Rs. 25,906 to Rs. 28,497.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been directed to probe the paper leak, as protests erupted across the country with students and parents demanding accountability.

The NTA said fresh examination dates would be announced shortly, assuring candidates that re-registration and payment of fees would not be required. Admit cards, it added, would be re-issued once the new schedule is finalised.
