The Andhra Pradesh government has launched an elaborate programme titled 'Yogaandhra-2026' to mark International Yoga Day on June 21, setting a target of engaging one crore citizens across the state in yoga activities, from village level to the state capital.

The flagship event will be held in Amaravati, where 25,000 participants are expected to gather for a state-level yoga session. In the fortnight leading up to the day, awareness drives, walkathons, social media campaigns, and demonstration events will be conducted under the Yogaandhra banner from June 7 to June 20.

District-wise thematic approach

In what officials describe as a distinctive feature of this year's observance, each of the state's 28 districts has been assigned a specific community or occupational group as its theme. NTR district will conduct sessions with police personnel, while East Godavari will involve prison inmates. Visakhapatnam's programme is themed around serving and retired defence personnel, and Alluri Sitarama Raju district will focus on tribal communities.

Other notable pairings include Kurnool with sanitation workers, Tirupati with celebrities, Anantapur with persons with disabilities, and YSR Kadapa with multi-generational family participation. Guntur district's sessions will centre on engineering students, while Prakasam will engage DWACRA women's groups. Each district headquarters is required to ensure a minimum of 1,000 participants.

Infrastructure and digital outreach

Competitions in yoga will be held at village, mandal, district, and state levels, with participation open to students, athletes, women's self-help groups, health workers, and industrial labourers, among others. Venues including schools, parks, community halls, stadiums, and gram sachivalayams will be equipped with drinking water, seating, and temporary shelters.

Oversight of the programme at the district level has been entrusted to the respective Collectors. The Tourism Department has been directed to organise special yoga demonstrations at more than 100 tourist sites across the state.

To streamline participation, the government plans to develop a dedicated web portal and an AI-based registration and verification application. Digital certificates will be issued to all participants upon completion.

AMARAVATI, April 20: A total of 377 doctors have joined primary health centres (PHCs) and teaching hospitals across Andhra Pradesh as Medical Officers and Civil Assistant Surgeons, with women accounting for 232 of the new recruits — or 61.53 per cent of the total intake — Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav announced on Monday.

Of the newly joined doctors, 282 have taken charge as Medical Officers in PHCs while the remaining 95 have joined teaching hospitals as Civil Assistant Surgeons.

Recruitment process

The AP Medical Services Recruitment Board had issued a notification on behalf of the Director of Public Health to fill 630 Medical Officer posts on a permanent basis, against which 4,984 applications were received. Following scrutiny under prescribed rules, online counselling was conducted to fill 611 posts — excluding those reserved under the sports quota — from a finalised selection list. Of those called for counselling, 482 candidates registered their preferences.

234 posts to be filled shortly

However, 129 candidates did not exercise their options, and 105 others who received postings did not report for duty, leaving 234 posts vacant. The Director of Public Health has requested the Recruitment Board to furnish a fresh merit list of remaining eligible candidates from the original selection list drawn up under last year's notification. A revised list will be prepared in accordance with reservation rules and other applicable norms, and fresh online counselling will be conducted shortly. The coalition government has been taking continuous steps to ensure zero vacancy in public health posts, the Minister said.

District-wise distribution

Among the districts, Krishna, Nandyal, Palnadu, and Srikakulam recorded the highest intake, with 16 Medical Officers joining PHCs in each district. Kadapa, Eluru, and Konaseema districts saw 15, 14, and 13 doctors join respectively, while West Godavari, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Anantapur, and Prakasam each received 12 new PHC Medical Officers.

In teaching hospitals, Kadapa led with 25 Civil Assistant Surgeons reporting for duty, followed by Kakinada and Kurnool with 13 each. Across tribal areas of the State, 37 doctors have joined service.

సామాన్యులకు విమానాశ్రయాల సందర్శన నెరవేరని కలే.. దగ్గర నుంచి విమానం చూడాలంటే విమానాశ్రయానికి వెళ్ళాల్సిందే… అలా కాకుండా విమానం చూడాలంటే ఎప్పుడైనా అది ఆకాశంలో వెళ్తున్పప్పుడు మాత్రమే… అయితే ఇప్పుడు బాపట్లజిల్లా కొరిశెపాడు దగ్గర 16వ నెంబర్‌ జాతీయ జాతియ రహదారిపై గ్రామాల పక్కనే విమానాల ల్యాండింగ్‌, పార్కింగ్‌ కోసం సన్నాహాలు చేస్తుండటమే ఇప్పుడు ఆసక్తిగా మారింది.

ప్రకాశం, బాపట్ల జిల్లాల్లోని 16వ నెంబరు జాతీయ రహదారిపై రెండు అత్యవసర విమాన, హెలికాప్టర్ ల్యాండింగ్ కేంద్రాలు నిర్మాణం చేశారు.. అత్యవసర పరిస్థితుల్లో ఇక్కడినుంచి విమానాలు, హెలికాప్టర్లు టేక్‌ఆఫ్‌ చేసేందుకు, నడిపేందుకు ఏర్పాట్లు పూర్తయ్యాయి..16వ నంబరు జాతీయ రహదారిపై ప్రకాశంజిల్లా సింగరాయకొండ పరిధిలో కనుమళ్ళ రోడ్డు నుంచి కందుకూరు అండర్‌ పాస్‌ వరకు.. అలాగే బాపట్లజిల్లా కొరిశెపాడు నుంచి రేణంగివరం వరకు వీటి నిర్మాణాలు పూర్తయ్యాయి.. దీనికి సంబంధించి రెండు ప్రముఖ సంస్థలు తమ పనులు పూర్తి చేశాయి.. ఈరెండు రోడ్‌ కం రన్‌వేలలో తొలుత బాపట్లజిల్లా కొరిశెపాడు నుంచి రేణంగివరం వరకు ఉన్న రన్‌వేపై 2022 డిసెంబర్‌ 28వ తేదిన తొలి ట్రయల్‌ రన్‌ విజయవంతంగా చేశారు.. మొత్తం 5 విమానాలు ఇక్కడ లాండింగ్‌, పార్కింగ్ చేయడం కోసం తక్కువ ఎత్తులో ఎగురుతూ పరీక్షించాయి.. ల్యాండింగ్‌ కోసం అన్ని విధాలా అనుకూలంగా ఉందని నిర్ధారించుకున్నారు.. ఈ 5 విమానాల్లో ఒకటి కార్గో విమానం కాగా మరో నాలుగు జెట్‌ ఫైటర్లు ఉన్నాయి.

ఇలా ఏర్పాటు…

16వ నెంబర్‌ జాతీయ రహదారిపై సింగరాయకొండ, కొరిశెపాడు దగ్గర రెండు ప్రాంతాల్లో నిర్దేశిత ప్రాంతం నుంచి 3.5 నుంచి 4కిలోమీటర్ల పరిధిలో అత్యవసర ఎయిర్ ప్యాడ్లను నిర్మించారు…విమానాలు ల్యాండింగ్‌ కోసం 4 కిలోమీటర్ల మేర రన్‌వేను దృఢంగా , సౌకర్యవంతంగా నిర్మిణాలు పూర్తి చేశారు… జాతీయ రహదారిపై 60 మీటర్ల వెడల్పుతో దీన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేశారు.. వీటిని నిర్మించే ప్రాంతాల్లో జాతీయ రహదారిపై ఉన్న డివైడర్ తో పాటు రోడ్డు, విద్యుత్ స్తంభాలు, బస్‌ బే, చెట్లను తొలగించారు… రన్‌వేకు ఆనుకుని ప్రధాన రహదారిపై విమానాల పార్కింగ్ స్లాట్స్ నిర్మించారు… అందుకోసం రహదారిని రెండువైపులా విస్తరించి ఇతర వాహనాలను ఆ మార్గంలో మళ్లిస్తారు..

బాపట్లజిల్లా కొరిశెపాడు దగ్గర రన్‌వే కోసం 80 కోట్లు ఖర్చు చేశారు… అలాగే ప్రకాశంజిల్లా సింగరాయకొండ దగ్గర రన్‌వే కోసం కూడా మరో 80 కోట్లు వెచ్చించారు… జాతీయ రహదారిపై ఈ రన్‌వేలు నిర్మించకముందు తారురోడ్డు ఉండేది… ఈ తారు రోడ్డును తొలగించి 6 అడుగుల మేర గుంతలు తవ్వారు… ఆ గోతుల్లో నాలుగు పొరలుగా ఇసుక, కంకర, సిమెంట్‌తో మెటల్‌ రోడ్డు వేశారు… దానిపై తిరిగి సిమెంట్‌ రోడ్డు నిర్మించారు.

రాష్ట్రంలో రెండు రన్‌వేలు…

రాష్ట్రంలో ఒక వెయ్యి ఇరవై నాలుగు కిలోమీటర్ల మేర 16వ నంబరు జాతీయ రహదారి ఉంది. ఈ రహదారిపైనే రెండు అత్యవసర విమానం ల్యాండింగ్ కేంద్రాలను నిర్మించారు… ఈ రహదారి వెంబడి విశాఖపట్నం, రాజమండ్రి, గన్నవరం విమానాశ్రయాలు ఉన్నాయి… ఈ రహదారికి కొద్దిదూరంలోనే రేణిగుంట విమానాశ్రయం కూడా ఉంది… అయితే గన్నవరం, రేణిగుంట….ఈ రెండింటి మధ్య మరెక్కడా విమానాశ్రయాలు లేవు… నెల్లూరు జిల్లా దగదర్తిలో నిర్మించనున్న విమానాశ్రయం ఎప్పటికి పూర్తవుతుందో తెలియదు. ఈ మార్గంలో ఎక్కడైనా, ఏదైనా, అత్యవసర పరిస్థితి ఏర్పడినా…. ఏమీ చేయలేని పరిస్థితి. ఈ నేపథ్యంలోనే అత్యవసర ల్యాండింగ్ ఎయిర్ ప్యాడ్లకు ఒంగోలుకు దక్షిణ ప్రాంతంలో ఒకటి, ఉత్తర ప్రాంతంలో మరోకటి నిర్మించారు… వీటిలో దక్షిణంవైపు ప్రకాశంజిల్లా సింగరాయకొండ పరిధిలోని కనుమళ్ళ రోడ్డు నుంచి కందుకూరు అండర్‌పాస్‌ వరకు నిర్మించగా మరొకటి ఉత్తరంవైపు బాపట్లజిల్లా కొరిశెపాడు నుంచి రేణంగివరం వరకు నిర్మించారు. ఇప్పటికే నిర్మాణం పూర్తిచేసుకున్న బాపట్లజిల్లా కొరిశెపాడులో 2022 డిసెంబర్‌ 28న మొదటి ట్రయల్‌ రన్‌ ను ఎయిర్‌పోర్ట్‌ అధారిటీ, ఇండియన్‌ ఏయిర్‌ఫోర్స్‌ అధికారులు సంయుక్తంగా పూర్తి చేశారు… రెండో ట్రయల్‌ రన్‌ను మరో వారం రోజుల్లోపు చేయాలని నిర్ణయించారు… ఈనెల 19న ఈ ట్రయల్‌ రన్‌ ఉండే అవకాశం ఉంది… ఈ రెండో ట్రయల్‌ రన్‌ను వీక్షించేందుకు స్వయంగా ప్రధాని మోడీ హాజరవుతారని భావిస్తున్నారు… అందుకోసం ప్రధాన మంత్రి కార్యాలయం నుంచి తేదినీ ఖరారు చేస్తూ అనుమతి రావాల్సి ఉంది… ప్రధాని మోడీ రెండో ట్రయల్‌ రన్‌ కోసం వస్తున్నారా… లేదా… వస్తే, ఏ తేదిన వస్తారు అన్న దానిపై క్లారిటీ మరో రెండు రోజుల్లో క్లారిటీ వచ్చే అవకాశం ఉంది.
