In the complaint submitted to the Inspector of the Vijayawada Cyber Crime Police Station, Lavinbabu alleged that a Facebook account operating under the name "Bere" had repeatedly published offensive posts against the BJP, its principles and its leaders. He contended that the account name itself was objectionable in nature and that the content being posted was designed to demoralise party leaders and workers.

The complaint further alleged that the Facebook handle had been publishing indecent posts likely to disturb social peace and harmony, making personally defamatory remarks against elected representatives and other respected public figures. Particular concern was raised over posts that allegedly sought to malign the dignity and reputation of women leaders of the party, which the complainant described as deeply objectionable.

Lavinbabu stated in the complaint that such actions not only caused damage to personal, political and social reputation but also constituted criminal offences under the law. He urged the police to immediately initiate criminal proceedings against one Rudraraju, identified as the operator of the account, or any other administrators associated with it, and to ensure the removal of all objectionable posts forthwith.

BJP party advocates Purushottam Reddy, Pativada Varun Kumar and Shanmukh Thorati accompanied Lavinbabu during the filing of the complaint.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Subbarao underlined that political competition had moved well beyond public meetings and rallies, extending firmly into the digital domain. "Social media platforms are not merely communication tools. They are powerful instruments that shape public opinion," he said, urging cadre to actively leverage platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube to disseminate the party's ideology and highlight the Central Government's development initiatives and welfare schemes.

He also stressed the importance of official digital platforms, including MyGov and the Saral App, as effective tools for managing party activities and delivering information directly to citizens.

Noting the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence, Mr. Subbarao called upon party cadre to familiarise themselves with AI-based tools for creating posters, videos, and messaging content, describing such technologies as essential to faster and more impactful communication.

He outlined several action points for cadre, including ensuring that every booth maintain at least one dedicated digital team, that every cadre member remain active on social media, and that cadre be equipped to counter misinformation promptly with verified information.

"Building public trust, strengthening engagement, and expanding the party's influence through social media are the primary responsibilities of every cadre member," he said, describing the training as having provided clear direction on digital politics and modern technological tools.

NEW DELHI — In a landmark ruling that sits at the intersection of cricket, celebrity, and cutting-edge technology, the Delhi High Court has drawn a firm legal line around one of India's most recognised sporting figures — Gautam Gambhir.

And it has done so with the full force of the law.

The Ruling

Justice Jyoti Singh of the Delhi High Court issued a sweeping interim order on March 25, restraining multiple social media users and unnamed entities from using Gautam Gambhir's name, image, voice, likeness, or any other attribute of his persona without his explicit consent or authorisation.

The order covers everything — AI-generated content, deepfake videos, voice cloning, face morphing, superimposed images, audio recordings, and even merchandise bearing his likeness sold on e-commerce platforms.

In plain terms: if you use Gautam Gambhir's face, voice, or name without his permission — for commercial gain or otherwise — you are now in contempt of court.

The court did not stop there. It directed e-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart, along with tech behemoths Google and Meta Platforms Inc, to take down all offending content within 36 hours of the order. The matter has been listed for its next hearing on May 19.

Who Is Being Protected — and Why

Gautam Gambhir is not merely a cricket administrator. He is one of the most decorated cricketers in Indian history — a man who played 58 Tests, 147 One Day Internationals, and 37 T20 Internationals for India between 2004 and 2016. He is now the head coach of the Indian men's cricket team, carrying the hopes of a cricket-obsessed nation on his shoulders.

Justice Jyoti Singh acknowledged his stature without hesitation. As one of the "most decorated cricketers of this country," the court ruled, Gambhir has an unambiguous right "to protect his name, likeness and all other attributes of his personality" — and no third party has any right whatsoever to exploit those attributes without his consent.

It is a ruling that recognises something courts around the world are increasingly being forced to confront: in the age of artificial intelligence, fame itself has become vulnerable.

The Digital Attack on Gambhir

What drove Gambhir to court was not a single incident but a coordinated and sustained campaign of digital impersonation that his legal team described as both malicious and dangerous.

Social media accounts had deployed artificial intelligence, face-swapping software, and voice-cloning technology to create shockingly realistic videos falsely depicting Gambhir — fabrications so convincing that they spread rapidly across platforms, racking up hundreds of thousands of views before anyone could intervene.

The content was not merely embarrassing. It was damaging.

Fabricated videos purported to show Gambhir resigning as India's head coach following poor performances. Others depicted him assaulting a fellow player — events that never happened, manufactured entirely by technology and distributed as if they were real.

And then there was perhaps the most egregious example of all: a social media account that superimposed Gambhir's face onto an image of Mahatma Gandhi — the father of the nation — in a face-swapped video that garnered lakhs of views. Gambhir's counsel, Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, called it exactly what it was: unauthorised digital impersonation, misrepresentation, a grave violation of personality rights — and a profound act of disrespect toward one of history's most revered figures.

Merchandise bearing Gambhir's image was also being sold online without his knowledge or authorisation — turning his identity into a commercial product he had no say in.

The Legal Argument

Dehadrai argued the case with passion and precision. Gambhir, he told the court, has given 23 years of his life to Indian cricket — first as a player of the highest distinction, now as the head coach of the national team. That service, that sacrifice, that reputation — all of it was being systematically exploited and destroyed by faceless digital operators hiding behind anonymous accounts.

The offending content, Dehadrai argued, had "material consequence" on Gambhir — consequences that went beyond hurt feelings or wounded pride into the realm of genuine professional and reputational damage.

The court agreed.

A Ruling For the Digital Age

What makes this judgment significant extends far beyond cricket and far beyond Gautam Gambhir.

India, like the rest of the world, is grappling with an artificial intelligence revolution that has outpaced the law at every turn. Deepfake technology has reached a level of sophistication where fabricated videos are virtually indistinguishable from real ones. Voice cloning can replicate a person's speech patterns with unnerving accuracy. And social media platforms — despite their community guidelines and content policies — have repeatedly proven unable or unwilling to act swiftly enough to prevent the spread of such content.

Friday's ruling by Justice Jyoti Singh represents one of India's most comprehensive judicial responses to this crisis. By explicitly listing technologies including artificial intelligence, generative AI, machine learning, deepfakes, AI chatbots, face morphing, and style-of-speech imitation in its restraining order, the court has signalled that Indian law is evolving to meet the challenge — and that personality rights in the digital age are real, enforceable, and not to be trifled with.

What Happens Next

Amazon, Flipkart, Google, and Meta have been given 36 hours to remove offending content. The named defendants — and a number of unknown entities whose identities may yet be uncovered — are under a court-imposed restraining order that carries serious legal consequences if violated.

The next hearing is scheduled for May 19. By then, Gambhir's legal team will be watching closely to see whether the platforms comply — and whether the anonymous operators behind the offending accounts can be identified and brought before the court.

For Gautam Gambhir, the ruling is a victory — but also a sobering reminder of the world public figures now inhabit. A world where your face can be stolen, your voice can be cloned, your reputation can be shredded, and your identity can be sold — all without your knowledge, all at the click of a button.

The Delhi High Court has said enough is enough.

Now the question is whether the platforms, the algorithms, and the anonymous actors hiding behind them are listening.

The Delhi High Court's interim order was passed on March 25. The next date of hearing is May 19. Amazon, Flipkart, Google, and Meta have been directed to remove offending content within 36 hours.

Mumbai ( Journalist File ) : The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra faced a significant setback on Saturday, as the Samajwadi Party (SP) announced its decision to exit the coalition. SP legislator Abu Azmi revealed that the party had chosen to distance itself from the alliance, citing the Shiv Sena (UBT)'s embrace of the Hindutva agenda as the primary reason for their withdrawal.

Azmi criticized the lack of coordination within the MVA, particularly regarding the allocation of seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections and the subsequent election campaign. He pointed out that following their defeat in the Assembly elections, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had instructed party leaders and workers to aggressively pursue a Hindutva agenda during internal meetings. Azmi further highlighted the controversy surrounding a social media post by Shiv Sena (UBT) on December 6, which expressed support for the demolition of the Babri Masjid, an act that the SP deemed unacceptable.

"Given the Shiv Sena's stance, we have decided to no longer continue with the MVA," Azmi stated, emphasizing that the party could not align with an alliance that supported Hindutva in its current form.

The political drama continued in the Maharashtra Assembly, where opposition legislators, including those from the SP, boycotted the session in protest. However, SP legislators Asim Azmi and Rice Shake took their oaths as members of the Assembly today, defying the MVA's call to boycott the proceedings.

The withdrawal of the SP marks a further unraveling of the MVA alliance, which has been under strain due to internal differences and political disagreements.

Andhra Pradesh, Kadapa ( Journalist File ) : The state’s Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has warned that strict action, including cases under the Gundas Act, will be taken against individuals involved in land encroachments of school properties. Speaking during a special drive to address encroachments on government school lands in Kadapa district, he directed officials to take stringent measures against the offenders.

Pawan Kalyan emphasized that the coalition government was committed to resolving issues related to students and schools. He reiterated the government's focus on providing quality education and ensuring the safety of female students. The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted the need for heightened awareness among parents regarding the spread of narcotics and the influence of social media on children.

While addressing the crowd at a Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting at Kadapa Municipal Corporation High School, he assured that his personal trust would fund the renovation of the school kitchen, which was facing financial constraints. “Despite limited government funds, we are determined to find solutions for every problem brought to our attention,” he said.

Pawan Kalyan further stated that the goal was to elevate government schools to the level of corporate schools by effectively utilizing central government schemes and funding. “Our aim is to equip children for the future, and the government is wholeheartedly working towards this goal,” he added.

During his speech, Pawan Kalyan also emphasized the importance of ensuring a safe learning environment for children, especially girls, and promised that the coalition government would take all necessary steps to guarantee their protection. He discussed the tragic case of Sugali Preethi, a student from Kurnool district who died under suspicious circumstances, stressing that the investigation had been expedited under the current government.

On the issue of water scarcity in Kadapa, Pawan Kalyan acknowledged the concerns raised by local MLA Madhavi Reddy regarding drinking water shortages and promised efforts to resolve the issue. He assured that the government would prioritize water supply and other infrastructural needs to improve the region's conditions.

Regarding the merger of schools, Pawan Kalyan acknowledged the difficulties faced by female students in attending schools due to the previous administration's decisions. He promised to resolve this issue by providing transport facilities and ensuring that local students receive quality education close to home. “Our focus is on developing this region, ensuring jobs and opportunities are available here for the youth,” he stated.

The event also saw the participation of local legislators, district officials, and educational leaders, all of whom expressed their commitment to working together to improve the educational and infrastructural landscape of Kadapa.
