Amaravati, April 17: State Minister Satya Kumar Yadav on Friday strongly condemned the remarks made by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in Parliament during the debate on the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill, demanding that Gandhi immediately retract his statements and offer an unconditional apology to the people of the country.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP State office in Vijayawada, the Minister said it was deeply irresponsible of Gandhi to mock Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a time when Parliament was engaged in a crucial debate on women's empowerment. He described Gandhi's references to the Prime Minister as a "jadugar" and a "magician" as unworthy of a Leader of Opposition, and said his remarks undermining the country's military strength were wholly unacceptable.

Satya Kumar Yadav said Prime Minister Modi's leadership had been clearly visible in enhancing India's stature on the international stage and in driving national development. He asserted that the Central government's decisions on national security and military strength had made India significantly more powerful, pointing in particular to the firm stance adopted against Pakistan in bolstering the country's defence.

The Minister said Congress party's opposition to the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill had laid bare the party's true attitude towards women's empowerment. He added that the Central government's transparent and corruption-free governance continued to enjoy strong public support.

On the delimitation issue, Satya Kumar Yadav said the increase in parliamentary seats following the census was intended to ensure justice for southern States, with the possibility of up to a 50 per cent increase in seats for the south. He criticised the Congress for having fostered a sense of division between northern and southern States during its tenure in power.

The Minister said the BJP would welcome support from any party for decisions aimed at women's development and national progress.

Guntur, April 17: BJP State media panellist Taduvai Ramakrishna on Friday launched a sharp attack on Leader of Opposition in Parliament Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of conduct unbecoming of a parliamentarian and of making remarks that brought shame to civilised society.

Referring to the debate in Parliament on Friday, Ramakrishna alleged that Gandhi's comments were deeply offensive to the 140 crore people of the country. He said that Gandhi had not only made inappropriate remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi but had also criticised the Indian Army, which he described as painful and unacceptable. He demanded that Gandhi apologise to the nation immediately for his statements.

Ramakrishna also trained his guns on the Congress party, alleging that its positions have consistently worked against national interests. He said the party had exposed its true character by opposing the Women's Reservation Bill and attempting to obstruct the delimitation process. He reaffirmed that the BJP-led NDA government remained firmly committed to the empowerment of women.

Turning to the Congress leadership, he alleged that the party's policies had become an impediment to the country's progress. Citing a series of political developments over the years, he said the decline of the Congress party was only accelerating under Rahul Gandhi's leadership.

Ramakrishna said the people of the country were welcoming the Central government's decisions aimed at national development, particularly the advancement of Other Backward Classes and the political empowerment of women. He described the introduction of the Women's Reservation Bill as a historic moment and asserted that the credit for this landmark legislation belonged entirely to the BJP and the NDA government.

PVN Madhav calls statements inflammatory, says they have no place in responsible politics

VIJAYAWADA: Bharatiya Janata Party Andhra Pradesh president PVN Madhav on Sunday strongly condemned remarks made by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, asserting that statements designed to inflame communal tensions would not be accepted by any section of society.

Mr. Madhav said it was deeply objectionable for any leader to speak with the intent of targeting and destroying a particular community. He demanded that Mr. Kharge issue an immediate and unconditional public apology, and called upon the government to register a case and arrest him for making such remarks. Such statements, he said, had no place in political discourse.

The BJP State president said that at a time when the party was committed to the inclusive philosophy of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas', remarks aimed at driving a wedge between Hindu and Muslim communities deserved the strongest condemnation.

Mr. Madhav also took strong exception to the allegations levelled against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, describing it as an organisation that had consistently promoted national unity and patriotism. He recalled numerous instances where RSS volunteers had worked alongside the police and the armed forces during natural disasters, rendering relief and rehabilitation services. Targeting such an organisation to provoke public sentiment was unethical, he said, adding that Mr. Kharge's remarks represented a new low in political conduct.

Andhra Pradesh unit calls comments "incendiary," accuses Congress of stoking communal tension

AMARAVATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday demanded an unconditional public apology from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over remarks the party described as communally provocative and unbecoming of a senior national leader.

Sheikh Baji, official spokesperson of the Andhra Pradesh unit of the BJP, said Mr. Kharge had drawn an analogy during a recent meeting in which he allegedly likened the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the BJP to a snake obstructing a worshipper mid-namaz — suggesting they be treated accordingly. Mr. Baji said the remarks, which have since circulated widely, amounted to an incitement to violence.

"It is deeply unfortunate that the president of a national political party, who bears a responsibility to uphold the unity and integrity of this country, should resort to language that inflames communal passions."

The BJP spokesperson further alleged that the Congress party had, over successive decades, pursued a deliberate strategy of exploiting caste and religious fault lines for electoral advantage. Mr. Baji demanded that Mr. Kharge retract the remarks without delay and apologise to the people of India. He also called upon the Congress leadership to put in place safeguards to ensure that similar statements were not repeated in future.

Madhav on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack on the ABN Andhra Jyothy office, calling it a disgraceful act that struck at the very foundations of press freedom in a democratic society. He said such incidents were wholly unacceptable and represented a direct assault on the freedom of the media.

Democratic Channels Must Prevail

Addressing mediapersons, Madhav said that anyone with grievances against a news organisation's reportage must respond through democratic means rather than resort to violence. Differences of opinion, he said, should be resolved through dialogue and debate, not through intimidation or physical attacks on media establishments. He called on all political actors to uphold the democratic norms that guarantee a free press.

Jagan's Amaravati Somersaults Sow Confusion

Turning his attention to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Madhav said the latter's repeated shifting of positions on the question of Amaravati as the State capital had created considerable confusion among the public. He remarked that Jagan's stance on the capital city had become a source of ongoing controversy, and suggested that YSRCP's own rank and file needed to demand clarity from their leader on the issue before looking elsewhere for answers.

Sakshi Media Slammed for One-Sided Coverage

Madhav also trained his guns on Sakshi Media, alleging that while the outlet freely broadcast content critical of the ruling coalition, it consistently refused to carry rebuttals or responses from alliance party leaders. He called on all media organisations to maintain balance and fairness in their reporting, stating that responsible journalism demanded that all sides of a story be presented to the public.

Jagan Urged to Shed Amaravati Antipathy

Concluding his remarks, Madhav appealed to Jagan Mohan Reddy to shed what he described as an entrenched hostility towards Amaravati and instead extend cooperation towards the State's development. He emphasised that all political parties, regardless of their differences, had a responsibility to work together in the larger interest of Andhra Pradesh and its people.

HYDERABAD — Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Telangana government, demanding the immediate dismissal of Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy over what he described as a brazen family scam — and accusing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of deliberately protecting the minister despite acknowledging wrongdoing.

Speaking in his characteristically sharp and combative style, KTR — as the BRS leader is widely known — pulled no punches in his assault on the ruling Congress government, raising questions that he said demand urgent answers from the Chief Minister.

"CM Admitted Wrongdoing — But Still Won't Act"

KTR alleged that the exposure of Minister Ponguleti's family scam has left the Telangana government rattled and desperate. What makes the situation even more damning, he argued, is the Chief Minister's own admission.

"The Chief Minister himself has acknowledged that irregularities have taken place," KTR said. "Yet no legal action has been initiated. One must ask — is the Chief Minister protecting the minister because he too has a share in this corruption?"

It was a pointed and provocative question — one that the BRS leader clearly intended to land with maximum political force.

At the center of the controversy is Raghava Constructions — a company of which KTR claims Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy served as chairman between 2020 and 2022. The Chief Minister, KTR alleged, has attempted to distance the minister from the company by claiming it belongs to Ponguleti's distant relatives — a claim KTR dismissed as a transparent cover-up.

"The facts are clear," KTR said. "Ponguleti was the chairman of Raghava Constructions. The attempt to pass it off as belonging to distant relatives fools nobody."

Two and a Half Years of Failure

KTR broadened his attack beyond the immediate controversy, using the platform to deliver a comprehensive indictment of what he called the Congress government's two and a half years of governance failure.

"In two and a half years, the Chief Minister has not done a single thing that has benefited the people of Telangana," KTR charged. "Not one. And yet a minister accused of corruption continues to sit in his chair, his family protected, his wrongdoing unpunished."

He demanded pointed answers from the Chief Minister — why has action not been taken against the minister? Why is the minister's family being shielded? What message does this send to the people of Telangana?

Mining Scandals and Political Connections

KTR did not limit his allegations to the Ponguleti family controversy. He widened the scope of his attack to include what he described as widespread irregularities in the mining sector across Telangana.

Most explosive among his allegations was the claim that Bhagyalakshmi Mining in Kokapet — a prominent location in Hyderabad — belongs to relatives of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy himself. The allegation, if proven, would represent a significant conflict of interest at the highest levels of the state government.

"Mining has become a cover for large-scale illegality across this state," KTR alleged. "And the connections lead all the way to the Chief Minister's own family."

The L&T Land Controversy

KTR also trained his fire on what he described as a dangerous conspiracy surrounding 280 acres of land leased by the previous BRS government to engineering and construction giant Larsen & Toubro.

He alleged that what he called the "Danduppalya batch" — a reference he used to describe a group within the ruling establishment — is plotting to illegally seize this land. More alarmingly, KTR claimed that the Chief Financial Officer of L&T had been threatened with imprisonment in an attempt to intimidate the company.

"This is a massive scandal," KTR said, his voice rising with controlled fury. "Threatening the CFO of one of India's most respected companies with jail — what kind of government does this? What kind of governance is this?"

He described the entire episode as a "large-scale conspiracy" that strikes at the heart of investor confidence in Telangana.

"We Will Go to the Governor"

KTR made clear that the BRS is not prepared to let these issues rest — and issued a direct warning to the Telangana government.

If the government fails to act on the allegations and continues to ignore the opposition's demands, he said, the BRS will escalate the matter to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and lodge a formal complaint seeking intervention.

"We will go to the Governor if this government refuses to listen," KTR declared. "These are not small matters. These are issues of governance, of corruption, of public money being plundered — and someone must be held accountable."

One Non-Negotiable Demand

Amid the cascade of allegations and accusations, KTR's central demand was unambiguous and unconditional.

Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy must be removed from office. Immediately. Without further delay or excuses.

"This is not a request. This is a demand from the people of Telangana," KTR said. "A minister whose family is neck-deep in scandal, whose wrongdoing has been acknowledged by the Chief Minister himself, has no moral or legal right to continue in office. He must go."

The Political Context

Saturday's press conference marks an escalation in BRS's increasingly aggressive opposition campaign against the Telangana Congress government. With assembly elections still years away, the party — which governed Telangana for a decade before its shock defeat in 2023 — appears determined to position itself as the primary watchdog against what it characterises as runaway corruption under the Revanth Reddy administration.

KTR, who has increasingly taken on the role of the party's most combative public voice, has sharpened his rhetoric in recent months — targeting the Chief Minister personally and with growing frequency.

The Congress government has not yet formally responded to Saturday's allegations. Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy's office was not immediately available for comment.

But with KTR threatening to take the matter to the Governor and vowing to keep the pressure on, the political temperature in Hyderabad shows no sign of cooling any time soon.
