RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM, Sept. 7, 2026: A long-pending demand for a dedicated Kapu Bhavan in Rajamahendravaram moved closer to reality on Monday, with Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh and Rajahmundry MP Daggubati Purandeswari performing the bhoomi puja for the proposed building.

The foundation ceremony was held on 30 cents of land allotted by the coalition government near the Collectorate in the Rajamahendravaram Rural constituency. The event drew Kapu community representatives and political leaders, with the minister using the occasion to address a dispute over the ownership and status of the site.

Durgesh said the land allotted for the Kapu Bhavan does not fall within the university's jurisdiction, rejecting claims that the government had used university land for the project. He said the original 45-acre parcel had, in 2008, been restricted to 20 acres for the university, while the remaining 25 acres were allocated for other public institutions and purposes.

Of that balance, 10 acres were allotted to the Agriculture University and the National Academy of Construction, where the Collectorate is now located, he said. Another 1.5 acres was allotted to Godavari Gas Private Limited, with the rest distributed among other government institutions. The 30 cents allotted for the Kapu Bhavan therefore had no connection with the university, Durgesh said, urging people not to be misled by claims to the contrary.

The minister described the foundation ceremony as the fulfilment of a decades-old aspiration of the Kapu community. He recalled that efforts to secure land for a Kapu welfare and function hall had continued for years and credited Purandeswari and Daggubati Venkateswara Rao with having pursued the objective.

“Determination can make even a long-standing dream possible,” Durgesh said, arguing that the coalition government's decision had finally created the opportunity to turn the demand into a permanent institution.

Invoking the example of the legendary warrior Kartaviryarjuna, who is traditionally depicted as having a thousand arms in battle, Durgesh said he was prepared to stand with the strength of “a thousand hands” whenever public welfare required it.

He also called for an inclusive approach to social development, referring to Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan's emphasis on playing the role of an elder brother and bringing different communities and social groups together without discrimination.

Durgesh said the objective would be fully achieved only when construction was completed and the Kapu Bhavan was ready for public use. He appealed to community leaders and others involved in the project to work together to complete the building quickly.

He specifically thanked Purandeswari for her role in helping secure the project and said the coalition government had provided the political support necessary to turn the long-standing demand into reality.

MLC Somu Veerraju, Kapu Welfare Association president Alluri Seshunarayana, honorary president Ramineedi Murali, association leaders Achyuta Ramarao, Ganga Kishore, S. Srinivasa Rao and others attended the ceremony in large numbers.

Vijayawada, April 20: The Andhra Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Congress party and its allies for opposing the Women's Reservation Bill, announcing a series of NDA protest programmes across the State later this month.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP State office in Vijayawada, party State general secretary Nagotu Ramesh Naidu accused Congress and its allies — the Trinamool Congress, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Samajwadi Party — of collectively blocking legislation that sought to ensure equal political representation for women. "They are celebrating this obstruction as though it were a great victory," he said.

Mr. Naidu recalled that the Congress-led UPA government had, during the tenure of Rajiv Gandhi, enacted special legislation in the Shah Bano case overriding a Supreme Court ruling. He further noted that while Sonia Gandhi had successfully steered the Women's Reservation Bill through the Rajya Sabha, the party failed to bring it to a vote in the Lok Sabha. He accused the Congress of using Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to play what he termed a "Shikandi role" in obstructing the bill.

Asserting that delimitation must not be carried out on the basis of population ratios alone, Mr. Naidu said the BJP remained committed to reintroducing the Women's Reservation Bill and securing its passage. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working towards making women equal partners in the nation's development, and no obstacle will deter that goal," he said.

The party announced a series of protest events across Andhra Pradesh. On April 24, a demonstration will be held in Vijayawada with BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav, Minister Kandula Durgesh and TDP State president Palla Srinivasarao as chief guests. A parallel protest will be organised in Rajamahendravari under the leadership of MP Daggubati Purandeswari on the same day.

On April 25, Union Minister of State Bhupatiraju Srinivas Varma will participate in protests at Tirupati, while a separate programme is scheduled in Kurnool.

BJP NTR District president Adduri Sriram was also present at the press conference.

ఈ సందర్భంగా ఆలయం వెలుపల మంత్రి కందుల దుర్గేష్ మాట్లాడుతూ మన దేశం ఆర్థికంగా, సైనిక శక్తిగా దృఢంగా ఉన్నా దేవుడి ఆశీస్సులు కూడా మెండుగా ఉండాలనే ఉద్దేశ్యంతో జనసేన పార్టీ అధ్యక్షులు పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ గారు ఇచ్చిన పిలుపుమేరకు  బిక్కవోలు శ్రీ కుమార సుబ్రహ్మణ్య స్వామి దేవాలయంలో ప్రత్యేక పూజలు నిర్వహించానని తెలిపారు. ప్రధాని మోదీ నాయకత్వంలో శత్రు సేనలను కట్టడి చేసి, దేశాన్ని కాపాడే గొప్ప శక్తిసామర్థ్యాలు, సాంకేతిక పరిజ్ఞానం దేశ త్రివిధ దళాలకు మెండుగా ఉన్న నేపథ్యంలో వారి కోసం దేశమంతా ప్రార్థించే సమయమిది అని గుర్తుచేస్తూ నిర్వర్తించిన పూజలు సైనికులకు మరింత బలం చేకూర్చాలని ఆకాంక్షిస్తున్నాను అన్నారు. దేశ ప్రజలు సురక్షితంగా ఉండాలన్నదే తమ ధ్యేయమన్నారు. సురులను కాపాడి అసురులను సంహరించిన సుబ్రహ్మణ్యస్వామిలా నేడు దుష్టముష్కరుల నుండి, ఉగ్రవాదం నుండి  భారతదేశాన్ని కాపాడుతున్న నిజమైన సైన్యాధ్యక్షులు భారతసైనికులు అని మంత్రి దుర్గేష్ అన్నారు. భారత సైన్యం చూపిస్తున్న తెగువ, చేస్తున్న త్యాగం దృష్టిలో పెట్టుకొని వారికి ఆత్మస్థైర్యం, ధైర్యం ఇవ్వాలని దేవున్ని ప్రార్థించినట్లు మంత్రి తెలిపారు. అదే విధంగా కశ్మీర్ నుండి కన్యాకుమారి వరకు శాంతికాముకంగా ఉన్న భారతదేశంలో ఎలాంటి అరాచకాలు జరగొద్దని కాంక్షించినట్లు మంత్రి పేర్కొన్నారు. దేశ సమగ్రతకు అందరం కృషి చేద్దామని పిలుపునిచ్చారు. అమాయకులైన 26 మంది పర్యాటకుల్ని పహల్గాంలో పొట్టన పెట్టుకున్న ఉగ్రమూకల్ని భారత ప్రభుత్వం ఆపరేషన్ సిందూర్ తో ఇప్పటికే తుద ముట్టించిందని వెల్లడించారు.  ఈ క్రమంలో పాకిస్థాన్ మీద చేస్తున్న ధర్మ యుద్ధంలో భారత సైన్యానికి, ప్రధాని మోదీకి భగవంతుని ఆశీస్సులు, దైవబలం మెండుగా ఉండాలని ప్రార్థించామన్నారు. ఆపరేషన్ సిందూర్ తో దేశానికి ఆపదలను దూరం చేయాలని ప్రార్థనలు చేశామన్నారు.   ఈ సందర్భంగా  దేశం కోసం, దేశ సమగ్రత కోసం తమ ప్రాణాలను తృణప్రాయంగా అర్పించిన సైనికులకు నివాళులు అర్పించారు. సరిహద్దుల్లో సైనికుల పోరాట స్ఫూర్తిని ప్రశంసించారు. కీలక సమయంలో దేశ ప్రజల ఐక్యత నిరూపితమైందని గుర్తుచేశారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా జై జవాన్, భారత్ మాతాకీ జై, జయహో భారత్ అంటూ మంత్రి కందుల దుర్గేష్ నినదించారు.కార్యక్రమంలో అనపర్తి ఎమ్మెల్యే నల్లమిల్లి రామకృష్ణారెడ్డి, కూటమి నాయకులు పాల్గొన్నారు.
