AMARAVATI, Sept. 7, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh government has rejected allegations circulating in various media platforms over the eligibility of candidates selected under the Sports Quota in Mega DSC-2025, saying official records and certifications did not substantiate claims regarding TET qualifications, caste status or sports certificates.

School Education Commissioner Tameem Ansaria and SAAP Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Bharani said at a press conference on Monday that each case had been examined against applicable rules, official records and certifications issued by competent authorities. They said action would be taken if any certificate was eventually proved fraudulent or any eligibility violation established, while cautioning against penalising candidates solely on the basis of allegations.

Under the applicable TET rules, candidates in the general and EWS categories require 60 per cent, or 90 out of 150 marks, while BC candidates require 50 per cent and SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates require 40 per cent. TET does not apply as a separate qualification to Physical Education Teacher, School Assistant (Physical Education), Physical Director, PGT and Principal posts.

Officials cited several cases in which allegations of inadequate TET scores were found to be unsupported by records. Ediga Prabhakar of Kurnool, selected for an SGT post through the hockey quota, had scored 77 marks in TET Paper-II-B in 2018, although an inquiry into his case is still under way. Jampala Usha, a BC-A candidate, had secured 79 and 80 marks in the January and May 2012 TET examinations and 76 marks in 2017, meeting the applicable qualification requirements at the time.

Similarly, Miriyala Gayathri Sai Sri of East Godavari scored 97.89 marks in APTET-2024 Paper-II-A for SA-Telugu against the 90-mark requirement for OC candidates. Visakhapatnam candidate Pragada Kalyani scored exactly 75 marks in APTET-2018 Paper-II-A, meeting the BC qualification threshold. Officials also cited qualifying scores recorded for several other candidates.

The government also defended the eligibility of ex-serviceman candidate V. Chakrapani Reddy of Chittoor, who secured 79.47 marks in APTET-2024 Paper-II-A and 65 marks in CTET Paper-II-A, above the 40 per cent threshold applicable to ex-servicemen.

Judo certificates under scrutiny

On allegations involving Judo certificates, SAAP officials said a tentative Sports Quota list had been published between August 8 and 14, 2025, allowing candidates to raise grievances. They said 69 writ petitions had been filed before the Andhra Pradesh High Court in connection with Sports DSC, but clarified that the petitions did not themselves establish that Judo certificates issued by the AP State Judo Association were fake.

The validity of certificates issued by the AP Judo Association is currently under examination in PIL No. 170, dated July 23, 2026. The High Court has directed the Vigilance Department to complete its inquiry and submit a report, making the outcome of that investigation central to any further action.

Officials said sports certificates are considered according to central government guidelines and must be issued or authenticated by the competent authority for the relevant competition. National-level certificates may be issued by the concerned National Federation or State Association, while different authorities handle university, school and Khelo India competitions.

The department also addressed claims that 21 Judo candidates came from the same mandal and that seven belonged to one family. Officials said the authenticity of the relevant certificates remains subject to the ongoing Vigilance inquiry. They added that athletes are not necessarily required to represent their native district and may represent a district where they study or work, subject to the applicable rules.

Other disputed cases, including those involving a husband-and-wife pair selected through the Judo quota, a boxing certificate uploaded incorrectly and later replaced, an athletics certificate and Softball certificates, were also explained with reference to official records and authentication documents.

On OC-EWS selections, officials said appointments were made on the basis of EWS certificates issued by the competent authority rather than individual claims. The government reiterated that any irregularity established during the inquiry would invite action under the rules.

గత ఆరు సంవత్సరాలుగా శాశ్వత స్థానం లేకుండా పనిచేస్తున్న 1200 మంది లాంగ్వేజ్ పండిట్ ఉపాధ్యాయులకు స్కూల్ అసిస్టెంట్‌లుగా పదోన్నతులు కల్పిస్తూ ప్రభుత్వం మెమో నెం.14 జారీ చేయడం పట్ల హర్షం వ్యక్తం చేశారు. దీర్ఘకాలంగా ఎదురుచూస్తున్న పదోన్నతులు లభించడంతో ఆ ఉపాధ్యాయుల్లో ఆనందం నెలకొన్నదని వారు పేర్కొన్నారు.

అలాగే, తమ స్వస్థలాల నుండి దూరంగా విధులు నిర్వహిస్తూ కుటుంబాలనుంచి వేరుగా ఉన్న సుమారు 500 మంది ఉపాధ్యాయులకు అంతర్‌ జిల్లా బదిలీలు అమలు చేయడం ప్రభుత్వానికి మరో పాజిటివ్‌ అడుగు అని తెలిపారు.

ఉపాధ్యాయుల సంక్షేమం దిశగా ప్రభుత్వం తీసుకుంటున్న నిర్ణయాలు అభినందనీయమని, తాజాగా వెలువడిన రెండు జీవోలు (పదోన్నతులు, బదిలీలు) ఉపాధ్యాయ సమాజానికి ఉత్సాహాన్ని నింపాయని పేర్కొన్నారు.
