AMARAVATI, May 10: BJP State President PVN Madhav on Sunday demanded immediate disciplinary action against a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) who allegedly assaulted the party's Kadapa district president during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations, calling on the Director General of Police (DGP) to take prompt action against the erring officer.

Mr. Madhav said the DSP should be suspended forthwith, and brought the matter to the attention of the State government.

The incident occurred at Almasapeta Centre in Kadapa city, where BJP and SC Morcha leaders were reportedly attacked by a group of miscreants who tore down decorative arches and flags erected for the Hanuman Jayanti festivities. When police resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse the aggressors, the Kadapa district BJP president intervened to appeal for restraint and urged the police not to use force against the locals — at which point the DSP allegedly assaulted him physically.

"When a democratically elected party leader steps forward to restore peace and appeals to police to exercise restraint, it is deeply condemnable that a senior officer would raise his hand against him," Mr. Madhav said, terming the officer's conduct as "grossly unacceptable."

The BJP State president also observed that the incident was particularly unfortunate given that it unfolded during a period of widespread Hanuman Jayanti processions and bike rallies being conducted peacefully across Andhra Pradesh. He stressed that the sentiments of devotees must be protected and that incidents of this nature should not be allowed to recur.

Mr. Madhav called on the police department to direct its action against those who had carried out the original attack on the Hanuman Jayanti decorations, rather than against those who were conducting peaceful religious programmes. He reminded the law enforcement machinery that maintaining law and order was its primary obligation.

"The double engine government has been working to accelerate development and welfare programmes, and public trust in the administration is growing," he said, adding that such incidents of police high-handedness risked eroding that goodwill.

The BJP has demanded that the DGP register a departmental case against the DSP and initiate action under the relevant provisions governing police conduct.

VIJAYAWADA, May 5: Bharatiya Janata Party Andhra Pradesh State president P.V.N. Madhav on Tuesday described the party's victories in three of the five States that went to the polls as historic, and said the results reflected the growing trust of the electorate in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Mr. Madhav said Mr. Modi had effectively articulated people's issues during the election campaign, and that voters in West Bengal had rewarded the BJP with a decisive mandate. Bengal win rooted in history and public discontent

Contextualising the West Bengal result within a broader historical frame, Mr. Madhav said the victory was made possible by the sacrifices of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, and that winning in the land of luminaries such as Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Swami Vivekananda, and Subhas Chandra Bose lent the achievement special significance.

He was sharply critical of the preceding years of Communist and Trinamool Congress rule in the State, alleging that both had presided over a rise in lawlessness. He further alleged that illegal immigrants from Bangladesh had been encouraged and cultivated as a vote bank by the ruling dispensation. It was public awareness of and anger against these trends, he argued, that had driven high voter turnout and ultimately brought the BJP to power.

Assam hat-trick and Kerala foothold

On Assam, Mr. Madhav said the BJP had achieved a hat-trick by strengthening the spirit of nationalism in the State. He also highlighted the party's performance in Kerala, where it won three seats and entered the State Assembly for the first time, describing it as a significant indicator of the party's geographic expansion.

Commenting on Tamil Nadu, he said the victory of actor-politician Vijay's party over the DMK was a signal of change in the State.

Senior party functionaries including Kapu Ramachandra Reddy, Saligrama Lakshmi Prasanna, Sheikh Baji, Rongala Gopi Srinivas, Uppalapati Srinivas Raju, Adduri Sriram, Syed Basha, Surendra Reddy, and Reddy Pavani were present at the press conference.

VIJAYAWADA, May 5: The Andhra Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday held a victory rally in Vijayawada to celebrate the party's electoral successes in three States, with State president P.V.N. Madhav leading the procession from the Sujana Chowdary office at Bhavani Puram. Party leaders and workers turned out in large numbers for the celebratory event.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Madhav said the results reflected the trust that voters across the three States had reposed in the BJP. Mr. Madhav also highlighted the party's strong performance in Assam under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, as well as its gains in Puducherry. He pointed to the party's showing in constituencies with a Muslim population of around 60 per cent — where the BJP had won 40 of 63 seats — as evidence that the notion of minorities being averse to the party was a misconception. He also said the BJP welcomed the victory of actor-politician Vijay in Tamil Nadu.

The State president attributed the electoral successes to the organisational efforts of senior leaders such as Amit Shah and Sunil Bansal, as well as the sacrifices of party workers at the grassroots level.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh BJP president PVN Madhav on Sunday extended warm wishes to Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, who was recently discharged from hospital following treatment for a brief illness, expressing hope that he would make a full and swift recovery.

Madhav, who inquired after the Governor's health and well-being, urged him to recuperate completely and resume his official duties at the earliest. Conveying get-well wishes on behalf of the people of the state, the BJP state president expressed confidence that the Governor's health would improve further in the coming days.

Governor Abdul Nazeer had been hospitalised briefly owing to a minor ailment and was discharged recently, according to official sources.

Hyderabad, April 23: Andhra Pradesh BJP State President PVN Madhav on Thursday paid his last respects to former undivided Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nadendla Bhaskaraao, who passed away recently, visiting the residence of Nadendla Manohar at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad and placing a floral wreath on the mortal remains.

Speaking on the occasion, PVN Madhav consoled the bereaved family members and expressed his profound condolences. He prayed that the Almighty grant strength and fortitude to the family members to bear the irreparable loss.

Paying tribute to the departed leader, PVN Madhav said that Nadendla Bhaskaraao had carved a distinguished place for himself in the politics of undivided Andhra Pradesh. Visakhapatnam, April 20: Andhra Pradesh BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav, accompanied by his family, visited the ancient hill shrine of Sri Sri Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy at Simhachalam on Monday to offer special prayers on the occasion of the temple's annual Chandanotsavam.

On his arrival at the temple, Madhav was accorded a formal welcome by the temple authorities, who made special arrangements for his darshan.

Performing the special prayers, Mr. Madhav sought the blessings of the presiding deity for the welfare, peace and prosperity of the people of Andhra Pradesh. He expressed the hope that the grace of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy would always remain upon the people, and that every household in the State be blessed with happiness, good health and abundance.

AMARAVATI, April 18: The defeat of the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha amounted to a stain on Indian democracy, Andhra Pradesh BJP chief spokesman Valluru Jayaprakash Narayan said on Friday, accusing the Congress-led INDIA bloc of committing a grave injustice against the women of this country by blocking legislation that would have expedited the implementation of women's reservations in legislative bodies.

In a strongly worded statement, Mr. Narayan described April 17 as a day of humiliation for every mother, sister, and daughter in India. He alleged that while Congress spoke at length about women's empowerment, its actions in Parliament told an entirely different story.

"Congress has spewed poison on the question of women's reservations. Snatching away women's rights is a political sin. It is shameful that Congress is celebrating having defeated the women of this nation," he said.

Dynasty politics at the root of opposition, alleges BJP

Mr. Narayan alleged that the Congress party had consistently pursued anti-women policies, and that all parties that had obstructed the Women's Reservation Bill were those accustomed to dynastic rule. He contended that these parties could not tolerate the prospect of ordinary women securing a place in legislative assemblies.

Holding Congress president Rahul Gandhi and leaders of the INDIA bloc directly responsible, he accused them of having betrayed women by promising reservations while in power and failing to deliver. "They are traitors to the women of this country," he said.

The BJP spokesman observed that despite being rejected by the electorate on multiple occasions, the Congress had shown no signs of course correction. He predicted that the women of India would deliver a fitting political response to the Congress alliance in the days ahead.

Calling for electoral accountability, Mr. Narayan urged voters in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu to defeat the Congress, DMK, and TMC alliances in the upcoming elections as an assertion of women's self-respect and dignity.

"Women's power will make itself heard," he said.

AMARAVATI, April 18: Andhra Pradesh BJP president PVN Madhav on Friday warned that the Congress party would inevitably face political repercussions for opposing the Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament, describing the party's stance as deeply unfortunate and a clear betrayal of its stated commitment to women's empowerment.

Speaking to mediapersons in Amaravati, Mr. Madhav said that Congress members voting against both the Women's Reservation Bill and the delimitation-related legislation had exposed the party's true position on women's political representation. "Their actions in Parliament speak louder than their rhetoric," he said.

The BJP leader asserted that the Women's Reservation Bill was an indispensable reform to ensure adequate representation of women across all levels of governance — from the grassroots to the national stage. He contended that the Bill's implementation would significantly strengthen women's leadership at every tier of the political structure.

Mr. Madhav accused the Congress of paying mere lip service to women's empowerment while retreating when it mattered most. "A party that fails to protect women's rights will be given a fitting response by the people," he said.
