Vijayawada, April 3: BJP Andhra Pradesh state president P.V.N. Madhav on Friday said that the legal recognition accorded to Amaravati as the state capital had laid a strong foundation for Andhra Pradesh's development, and reaffirmed that the Central government remains fully committed to supporting its construction.

Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada, Mr. Madhav said the Centre's decision to stand as guarantor for loans worth ₹27,000 crore had significantly accelerated the pace of construction in Amaravati. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their sustained support to the state.

The BJP leader credited Central assistance for the completion of the Benji Circle and Kanakadurga flyovers, and said the establishment of the South Coastal Railway Zone headquartered at Visakhapatnam was a direct outcome of the Union government's efforts. He also acknowledged the role of the Union Ministry of Railways in furthering the state's infrastructure development.

Responding to recent political developments, Mr. Madhav took a swipe at former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, saying he had grown increasingly disheartened following the election results. He suggested that Mr. Jagan's expressions of discontent stemmed from the legal sanctity now conferred upon Amaravati, a project he had opposed during his tenure.

The press conference was attended by Sanskrit Telugu Language Association chairman R.D. Wilson, BJP SC Morcha state president Panatala Suresh, Minority Morcha state president Syed Basha, and others.
