Borra Gopi Murthy Wins Teacher MLC Election for East-West Godavari Districts
KAKINADA ( Journalist File ) : Borra Gopi Murthy of the PDF (People's Democratic Front) emerged victorious in the Teacher's MLC (Member of Legislative Council) elections for the united East and West Godavari districts. Gopi Murthy secured 9,165 votes, winning with a clear majority of first-preference votes. His main rival, Gandham Narayan Rao, received approximately 5,259 votes, with 814 invalid votes recorded in the final tally.
The vote counting process took place on Monday at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Central Library in Kakinada, where 76 staff members participated in the counting process at 14 tables, under the supervision of counting agents.
Voter turnout was recorded at an impressive 92.62% across six districts, with 116 polling centers. Of the total 16,737 eligible voters, 15,502 cast their votes. The officials confirmed that 814 of these votes were invalid.
Borra Gopi Murthy's victory was assured as he maintained a consistent lead throughout the counting process, with a final margin of 3,906 votes over Narayan Rao.
Election observers, including K. Harshavardhan, RO Shanmohan, Kakinada ARDO S. Malla Babu, KSEZ SDC Ramalakshmi, and Kakinada Urban Tahsildar Jitendra, closely monitored the counting process.
The counting began after the secured ballot boxes were opened in the presence of MLC candidates, the Returning Officer, Kakinada District Collector Shanmohan, and SP Vikrant Patil. Along with Gopi Murthy, other MLC candidates present at the counting included Dr. Kavala Nageshwar Rao, Palugu Deepak, Gandham Narayan Rao, and Namana Venkatalakshmi.
The election process was closely observed by election officials K. Harshavardhan and RO Shanmohan.
