BJP pledges full support to AP's industrial growth
State president PVN Madhav says Krishnapatnam Smart Industrial City can attract foreign investment and generate thousands of jobs for local youth
VIJAYAWADA: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday expressed full support to the coalition government's efforts to accelerate industrial development in Andhra Pradesh, with State president PVN Madhav commending the pace at which work on the Krishnapatnam Industrial Smart City — popularly known as KRIS City — was being taken forward.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Madhav noted that expenditure on the project had already crossed ₹350 crore, and described this as a significant marker of the government's commitment to seeing the initiative through. He expressed confidence that the project, once fully operational, would emerge as a major engine of economic activity for the State.
"KRIS City has the capacity to attract foreign investment on a substantial scale. World-class infrastructure, built to international standards, is precisely what draws global capital — and Andhra Pradesh is on the right path."
Mr. Madhav said the project held particular promise for employment generation, with thousands of opportunities expected to open up for local youth once the industrial township reached full capacity. Providing stable livelihoods at scale, he argued, was among the most effective means of strengthening the State's broader economic foundation.
He also highlighted KRIS City's potential role in boosting Andhra Pradesh's export profile, pointing to its strategic location at Krishnapatnam — one of the largest ports on India's eastern seaboard — as a natural advantage for industries oriented towards global markets.
The BJP leader urged the State government to continue championing industrial projects of this scale, and expressed hope that Andhra Pradesh would in time establish itself as one of the country's foremost industrial destinations. He reiterated that the party would extend its full cooperation to any initiative aimed at realising that goal.
The KRIS City project, conceived as an integrated industrial township with plug-and-play infrastructure for manufacturing and logistics, is being developed across several thousand acres in Nellore district.
