Vijayawada’s Biggest Bilingual Debate Competition ‘Vaad-Vivaad’ Begins
VIJAYAWADA, Sept. 8, 2026: The first preliminary round of Vaad-Vivaad, billed as Vijayawada’s biggest bilingual inter-college debate competition, was held at Andhra Loyola College, bringing together students from several colleges to debate contemporary national issues.
Organised by AE Foundation, the second edition of Vaad-Vivaad seeks to encourage young people to think critically, articulate their views and engage with issues concerning culture, the Constitution, education, youth policy and nation building. The bilingual format, conducted in Telugu and English, is intended to make language less of a barrier while helping students overcome stage fear and develop confidence in public speaking.
The organisers said the competition is designed to strengthen research skills, critical thinking and respect for differing viewpoints, while encouraging students to become more aware and responsible citizens. Participants at the first preliminary round were paired across colleges and debated with enthusiasm, presenting arguments on issues of national importance.
The next two preliminary rounds will be held on Sept. 16 at KL University and Sept. 23 at KBN College. Students from colleges across Vijayawada have been invited to participate in the competition.
