MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad Accuses Previous Government of Political Vendetta Against Chandrababu Naidu
TENALI, Sept. 9, 2026: MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad accused the previous YSRCP government of undermining democracy by arresting former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu without adequate evidence and keeping him in jail for 53 days. He made the remarks at a “Nijam Gelichindi” programme organised at the TDP constituency office in Tenali to mark the day of Naidu’s arrest.
Rajendra Prasad, who is also the TDP in-charge for the Tenali constituency and a former minister, said Chandrababu Naidu had worked for development and public welfare during his tenure as chief minister. TDP leaders and workers lit candles at the programme and expressed solidarity with Naidu.
He alleged that several cases filed against Naidu by the previous government had subsequently been dismissed by courts and said political vendetta against opponents was unacceptable in a democratic system. He said the arrest had triggered widespread concern among supporters of the TDP.
The MLC said the people of Andhra Pradesh had given a decisive mandate to the TDP-led alliance in the 2024 elections after becoming dissatisfied with the previous government. He said the coalition government, led by Chandrababu Naidu, had been focusing on development and welfare and was working to move the state forward across sectors.
