GUNTUR, SEPTEMBER 21, 2026 (JOURNALIST FILE): GST officials and employees took part in a special cleanliness drive at the GST Bhavan and its surrounding areas in Kannavarithota, Guntur, on Monday as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign.
The drive was organised on the directions of Central GST Commissioner Arun Richard and conducted under the supervision of GST Joint Commissioner and IRS officer Dev Kumar Rajwani.
Officials and staff cleaned the premises and roads surrounding the GST Bhavan, removing accumulated garbage and other waste. Rajwani personally joined the workers in clearing waste from the roadside and participating in the sanitation activities.
The programme also focused on creating awareness among residents and members of the public about the importance of maintaining clean surroundings and protecting the environment.
Addressing the participants, Rajwani said cleanliness and environmental protection were among the priorities of the GST department under Commissioner Arun Richard. He said sanitation programmes were being conducted to maintain clean office premises as well as encourage greater public participation in cleanliness initiatives.
He called upon people to treat cleanliness as a shared responsibility and urged citizens to keep roads, public places and their neighbourhoods free from litter.
Rajwani said maintaining sanitation required continuous participation from government departments as well as the public. He emphasised that individual responsibility and proper waste disposal practices could make a significant difference in keeping communities clean.
GST Additional Commissioner G. Ramakrishna Raju Yadav, Superintendent R.P.P. Kumar, Inspectors Sharath, Rohith and P. Venkateswarlu, besides other officers and staff members, participated in the programme.
The officials said similar activities would help reinforce the message of cleanliness and environmental responsibility among employees and the wider community.
