GUNTUR, Sept. 11, 2026: Andhra Pradesh is accelerating the development of healthcare infrastructure worth ₹1,272 crore to strengthen medical services across the state, Health and Family Welfare Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference in Guntur, Yadav said Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would jointly inaugurate a series of health projects in Vijayawada on Saturday.
Among them are 22 key healthcare projects completed at a cost of ₹249.50 crore, aimed at improving emergency medical care and enabling early detection of diseases. The projects include 10 emergency treatment centres costing ₹234.50 crore and 12 integrated public health laboratories established at a cost of ₹15 crore, the minister said.
The state is constructing 24 emergency treatment centres in all, of which 10 have already been completed. Three more are expected to be completed by the end of September, with all 24 centres targeted to become operational by March, Yadav said.
The minister also announced plans to launch the ‘Sanjeevani’ programme across Andhra Pradesh in December, linking health centres and hospitals to create a more integrated healthcare delivery system. Around 2,800 health centres in rural areas are being strengthened as part of the initiative, he said.
Yadav alleged that during the previous government’s first three years, only ₹28.80 crore had been spent under the relevant Central scheme. Since taking office, the coalition government has cleared more than ₹250 crore in pending dues, allowing health infrastructure works to move forward faster, he said.
The press conference was attended by Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Chakradhar Babu, Director of Medical Education Vishnuvardhan, Director of Public Health Padmavathi, Guntur Medical College Principal Sundara Chari and other senior officials.
Yadav, who is also a BJP national leader and the party’s campaign in-charge for southern states, separately announced a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from Sept. 17 to Oct. 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years in public service as chief minister and prime minister.
The campaign will focus on thanking citizens, gathering their concerns and suggestions and seeking their support for future public-service initiatives, Yadav said. It will also seek to involve citizens in the state’s Swarna Andhra–2047 vision and the broader Viksit Bharat agenda.
The campaign will begin on September 17 with an ‘Aashirvad Deepam’ initiative. Organisers plan to conduct 25 categories of service activities, including blood-donation drives, health and sanitation programmes, cyber-fraud awareness campaigns and organ-donation outreach.
The BJP has also planned essay-writing and painting competitions for students from Classes 6 to 12, along with programmes honouring Anganwadi and ASHA workers. Initiatives such as ‘Seva Gatha,’ ‘Seva Jyothi’ and ‘Viksit Bharat Yatra’ will seek to involve young people and citizens in development activities.
Yadav said the BJP national leadership had entrusted him with coordinating the campaign across the southern states.
