AMARAVATI, SEPTEMBER 21, 2026 (JOURNALIST FILE): Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Association president G. Ramakrishna has called for government employees and teachers to be kept out of political disputes and condemned the incident reported at the SAAP office on Monday.
In a statement, Ramakrishna said employees and teachers should not be made part of political controversies and that allegations against them should not be made without first establishing the facts.
He said the Secretariat Association had been monitoring developments concerning employees and teachers and had so far refrained from intervening in matters it considered primarily political.
However, the situation in which teachers themselves had to organise meetings and protests to defend their dignity and object to allegations against them was unfortunate, he said.
Teachers should not be drawn into political disputes
Ramakrishna said teachers occupy an important position in society and are responsible for educating students. Attempts to involve them in political disputes, he said, could affect the morale of the wider government workforce.
He appealed to political parties and other organisations to verify facts and examine available evidence before making allegations against employees or teachers.
“Employees and teachers should be allowed to discharge their duties with dignity and without unnecessary political confrontation,” he said.
Strict action sought
The association president said the government and political parties had a responsibility to protect the dignity and security of government employees and teachers.
He urged the authorities to identify those responsible for the incident at the SAAP office and take action in accordance with law against anyone found to have attempted to attack or intimidate teachers.
Ramakrishna also appealed to the government to take preventive measures to ensure that similar incidents do not recur.
He said employees and teachers should be provided with a peaceful working environment so that they could perform their responsibilities without fear, confrontation or political pressure.
