AMARAVATI, SEPTEMBER 3: Companies in the logistics and aviation sectors have expressed interest in investing in Andhra Pradesh, with Sriksetra Logistics proposing an investment of about ₹300 crore and Melstarr Aviation exploring the establishment of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities at three airports in the State.
State Minister for Investments and Infrastructure B.C. Janardhan Reddy said the investment interest reflected the favourable business environment created in Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Representatives of Sriksetra Logistics, led by its director Vivek Agarwal, met the Minister at the Secretariat and discussed investment opportunities in the State. The company expressed interest in developing rail-linked multimodal logistics hubs and improving cargo-handling facilities at various ports.
According to Mr. Janardhan Reddy, Sriksetra Logistics, which has about three decades of experience and an annual turnover of around ₹1,500 crore, is considering investments of nearly ₹300 crore in Andhra Pradesh. The company currently operates in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Gujarat and is examining opportunities involving ports, railway connectivity and multimodal logistics infrastructure in the State.
The company representatives also discussed the Andhra Pradesh Logistics and Infrastructure Corporation (AP-LINK), established by the government with the objective of strengthening logistics infrastructure and reducing transportation costs. They appreciated the State’s investment policies and incentives, the Minister said.
Mr. Janardhan Reddy assured the company that the government would extend necessary support once detailed investment proposals were submitted.
Aviation sector
Separately, Melstarr Aviation director Tarun Kashyap met the Minister and discussed investment opportunities in the aviation sector. The company briefed him on the progress of the Melstarr Aviation Learning Academy (MALA) at Kurnool airport, which offers pilot training and has received a positive response from students, according to the government.
Melstarr Aviation has also expressed interest in introducing Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) training programmes at Vijayawada airport. It is also exploring the establishment of full-fledged MRO facilities at the Bhogapuram, Kurnool and Vijayawada airports.
Mr. Janardhan Reddy said the expansion of airports and the development of ancillary sectors such as MRO, AME and pilot training could create employment opportunities for local youth. Skill development programmes, he said, would help prepare local candidates for jobs in the aviation sector.
The company representatives also welcomed the State’s new aviation policy, describing it as conducive to investment, according to the Minister.
Mr. Janardhan Reddy said the government was working to develop Andhra Pradesh into a major aviation hub by expanding airport infrastructure and creating an ecosystem for aviation-related industries. He urged Melstarr Aviation to submit detailed proposals and assured the company of government support for infrastructure and other requirements.
The Minister said the government was seeking to facilitate faster approvals, investor-friendly policies and supporting infrastructure to attract investments in the logistics and aviation sectors.
