12 Government Hospitals Selected for State-Level ‘Swachh Andhra’ Awards
Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, October 1, 2026 (Journalist File): Twelve government hospitals across Andhra Pradesh have been selected for the Swachh Andhra State-Level Awards–2026 in recognition of their performance in cleanliness, hygiene and infection-control practices.
The awards are being presented as part of the Swarna Andhra–Swachh Andhra initiative. The hospitals were shortlisted following inspections focused on cleanliness and related standards. After hospitals submitted self-assessments through the respective districts, Swachh Andhra officials arranged third-party field inspections to independently assess the facilities.
The final selection was based on the scores recorded during these inspections. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to present the awards to representatives of the selected hospitals on October 2. Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav congratulated the officials and hospital teams for their performance.
The hospitals were assessed across five categories. Maintenance of separate toilets for women and men carried a weightage of 30 per cent, while facilities for hand hygiene accounted for 25 per cent. Toilet cleanliness and compliance with prescribed norms carried 20 per cent, regular inspections for infection control accounted for 15 per cent, and the display of clear cleanliness-related instructions and messages carried 10 per cent.
The 12 selected government hospitals include the facilities at Kanumolu in Krishna district, Konakanchi in NTR district and the Government AYUSH Hospital in Anakapalli district.
