1.02 Lakh Health Personnel to Be Trained for ‘Sanjeevani’ Rollout
Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, October 2, 2026 (Journalist File): Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav has said that around 1.02 lakh doctors, paramedical personnel and officials across the Health and Medical Department will be trained ahead of the statewide rollout of the Sanjeevani healthcare programme.
The minister said Sanjeevani services would be introduced on a trial basis from December 10 and launched statewide from January 1, 2027. He reviewed the preparations for the programme with senior officials on Thursday and issued directions for completing the required infrastructure, recruitment and training within the stipulated timelines.
Special arrangements are being made at 2,008 Primary Health Centres and Urban Primary Health Centres across the state for delivering Sanjeevani services. Dedicated rooms are being prepared at 537 centres, while UPS or inverter facilities are being provided at another 1,726 centres to ensure uninterrupted power supply. The infrastructure work has been targeted for completion by November 30.
Computers, tablets, printers, scanners, UPS systems, webcams, speakers, headphones and other equipment required for the programme are being procured through AP Technology Services.
The government is also undertaking the process of identifying and appointing 2,277 patient care coordinators at healthcare facilities. They will coordinate patient services, record medical information and facilitate communication between health centres and hospitals.
The coordinators are being selected primarily from the cadre of Community Health Officers and other mid-level healthcare personnel. In addition, 76 district-level service coordinators have been identified to strengthen coordination between primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare institutions.
District-level coordinators will be responsible for identifying operational issues arising during the implementation of Sanjeevani, coordinating with the concerned departments and ensuring that services are delivered without disruption.
Training programmes for patient care coordinators will begin on October 12 and continue until November 6. Doctors, medical support staff and field-level personnel will subsequently undergo training during November.
Training will cover the procedures to be followed under the Sanjeevani programme, online registration of activities, services to be provided to patients, conducting health examinations and facilitating appointments. Tata group personnel involved in the programme will provide training through both in-person and virtual sessions at the state and district levels.
ASHA workers and ANMs will also be trained in digital health examinations, integration of work processes and registration of health identification numbers. The training is intended to ensure that personnel at different levels follow the prescribed procedures under the Sanjeevani system.
Officials from Dr. NTR district, Krishna, West Godavari, Eluru, Konaseema, East Godavari and Kakinada districts have already received training on Sanjeevani implementation at AIIMS Mangalagiri.
As part of the digital integration plan, around 74 healthcare applications and portals operated by the Union and state governments will be linked with the Sanjeevani system. In the first phase, key systems required for healthcare delivery, field-level activities and monitoring will be integrated.
The integration process is targeted for completion by December 10. Systems such as NextGen and e-Aushadhi are among those proposed for integration. In subsequent phases, systems of the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Trust, public health screening databases, diagnostic systems and Union government health information platforms will also be brought into the integrated framework.
The integration is expected to enable information recorded at Primary Health Centres and at the field level to be utilised for different healthcare services. It will also reduce the need for repeated entry of the same information and improve coordination in healthcare delivery and management.
A State Sanjeevani Integrated and Control Centre is being established at Mangalagiri under the supervision of Tata MD. The centre will monitor Sanjeevani services across the state and coordinate operations where required.
The government is in the process of recruiting and training 275 personnel for the integrated control centre. District-level technical personnel will receive hands-on training as part of their operational responsibilities. The command-and-control operations are expected to gain full momentum by November 30.
Minister Satya Kumar Yadav directed officials to adhere to the timelines and ensure that infrastructure, technology, manpower and training arrangements are completed before the statewide launch of Sanjeevani on January 1, 2027.
