Brain-Dead Man’s Organ Donation Gives New Hope to Patients in Guntur

Guntur, September 30, 2026 (Journalist File): A 62-year-old man from Guntur whose family agreed to donate his organs after he was declared brain-dead has given fresh hope to several patients awaiting organ transplants, with the retrieval carried out at Aster Ramesh Hospitals in coordination with Jeevandan.

Nallaka Bhaskara Tirumala was undergoing treatment after suffering a brain haemorrhage when doctors declared him brain-dead. Despite the family’s grief, Jeevandan coordinators counselled his relatives on organ donation, following which they agreed to donate his organs in the hope of helping other patients.

His wife, N. Venkata Ramanamma, son N. Mohan Krishna, daughter Hemalatha and grandchildren Suhas and Jaswick Nandan supported the decision. Medical specialists at Aster Ramesh Hospitals, Guntur, carried out the organ retrieval process in coordination with the Jeevandan team and in accordance with established medical protocols and guidelines.

Aster Ramesh Hospitals managing director Dr. Pothineni Ramesh Babu praised the family for making the decision to donate the organs of their loved one during a period of profound grief. He described their decision as an example of compassion and said it could inspire others to consider organ donation.

Dr. Ramesh Babu said organ donation at the hospital during the previous 24 hours had helped provide a new chance at life to nine people. He said such cases demonstrated the potential of organ donation to help patients who are waiting for life-saving transplants.

Dr. Mamatha Rayapati said organ donation was a profound gift that could give another person an opportunity for a new life. She stressed the need for greater public awareness about the importance and process of organ donation.

Aster Ramesh Hospitals appealed to people to learn more about organ donation and consider registering as donors so that organs can be made available to patients in need when medically appropriate.
