AMARAVATI, Sept. 9, 2026: AP SRM University at Neerukonda has entered into an open access agreement with international academic publisher Springer Nature, aimed at giving the university’s research publications wider global visibility and making eligible research papers freely accessible to readers worldwide.
The agreement was discussed at an awareness programme organized by the university’s Central Library on Thursday, attended by faculty members, students and researchers. Representatives of Springer Nature explained the benefits available to researchers under the agreement, along with the publication process and the functioning of the open access model.
Under the agreement, the university will bear the Article Processing Charges (APCs) for eligible research papers. This means qualifying researchers will be able to publish their work through the open access route without having to personally meet the publication costs. Springer Nature Licensing Manager Rajneesh Appayya said the agreement operates under the gold open access model.
The programme also included an interactive session in which faculty members and researchers sought clarification from Springer Nature representatives on eligible journals, research disciplines, publication timelines and approval procedures. The university said the agreement is intended to strengthen the international visibility and reach of research emerging from disciplines including engineering, science and humanities.
The agreement documents were signed by Dr. Vinayak Kalluri, Registrar of AP SRM University, and representatives of Springer Nature. The two sides subsequently exchanged copies of the signed documents.
Springer Nature representatives who attended the programme included Account Development and Events Manager Neeraj Karandikar, Licensing Manager Rajneesh Appayya and Account Manager Morla Kamakshayya. University Chief Librarian A. Janakiraman welcomed the representatives and formally opened the programme.
