VIJAYAWADA, Sept. 10, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh will conduct a month-long ‘Seva Sankalpa Abhiyan’ from Sept. 17 to Oct. 17 to highlight Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year public life and the development and welfare initiatives undertaken during his tenure, state BJP president PVN Madhav said Thursday.
Addressing reporters at the BJP state office in Vijayawada, Madhav said a series of service and social programmes would be organized across the state during the campaign. He said the initiatives would also focus on communicating the Centre’s development agenda and its contribution to Andhra Pradesh.
The campaign will begin on Sept. 17, coinciding with Vishwakarma Jayanti, with large-scale blood donation camps aimed at collecting a significant number of blood units. An ‘Aashirvada Deepam’ programme will also be held that evening, with party workers and supporters lighting lamps while wishing Modi continued health and a long public life in the service of the country.
The BJP plans to organize painting and essay competitions in schools and colleges to create awareness among students about the vision of a developed India. Street plays and Burrakatha performances under the ‘Namo Seva’ initiative will be used to explain central government welfare and development programmes to the public.
Other activities will include felicitation of Anganwadi and ASHA workers, medical and blood donation camps, and programmes such as ‘Maarpu Katha’, highlighting areas transformed through development projects, and ‘Seva Jyothi Yatra’. The party also plans a large-scale palm-tree plantation drive in Andhra Pradesh under the theme ‘Palm Tree–Kalpavriksha’.
Beach-based rangoli and sand-art events will showcase the country’s development under the Modi government, while an ‘Innovation Challenge’ will seek to involve young people and scientists.
BJP highlights Centre’s support to Andhra Pradesh
Madhav said the campaign would also highlight the Centre’s support for Andhra Pradesh, citing assistance for the Polavaram project, its recognition as a national project and the merger of the affected mandals. He said central assistance was helping accelerate work on the project.
He also pointed to central support for Amaravati’s development, major infrastructure projects, the establishment of central institutions and the creation of the South Coast Railway zone headquartered in Visakhapatnam.
The Centre’s package for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, industrial corridors in the state and efforts to attract investments in sectors including green hydrogen, green steel, semiconductors and artificial intelligence would be important to Andhra Pradesh’s future, Madhav said.
He described the Centre-state partnership under the “Double Engine Government–Triple Engine Growth” framework as an important driver of development.
Coalition coordination for local body polls
Madhav said the BJP, TDP and Jana Sena were preparing for the forthcoming local body elections through coordination among the coalition partners. Teams had already been sent to the field to assess the parties’ organisational strength in panchayats, MPTCs, ZPTCs, municipalities and corporations, he said.
He said the coalition would seek to build on the public confidence demonstrated in the 2024 elections. However, no final decision had yet been taken on seat-sharing or which party would contest from particular local bodies, Madhav said.
The immediate priority, he added, was to maintain coordination among workers of all three parties and avoid differences at the grassroots level. The three parties have held internal preparatory meetings and are expected to meet again soon to formulate a coordinated strategy.
Madhav said a state office-bearers’ meeting scheduled in Guntur on Friday would review preparations for the Seva Sankalpa Abhiyan, readiness for the local body elections and the parties’ organisational strength at the grassroots level. Separate discussions with elected representatives would also be held.
State media in-charge Kilari Dileep, MLC Pothula Sunitha, state office in-charge Uppalapati Srinivasa Raju, NTR district BJP president Adduri Sriram and state spokespersons Sheikh Baji and Jalli Madhusudhan, among others, attended the press conference.
