AMARAVATI, Andhra Pradesh, September 22, 2026 (Journalist File) — Dharamavaram is set for a major expansion of its urban infrastructure, with development works worth a combined ₹242.28 crore being taken up or planned under several state and central government programmes, Andhra Pradesh Health and Medical Education Minister and Dharamavaram MLA Satya Kumar Yadav said Tuesday.
The investment covers roads, drainage, drinking water, sanitation, parks and street lighting, with projects currently spread across execution, tendering and administrative approval stages.
The minister said the works were part of a coordinated plan to improve basic civic infrastructure and meet the town's growing requirements.
₹43 crore road and civic infrastructure package
Dharamavaram municipality has been allocated ₹43 crore under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), following the launch of the state's latest urban infrastructure programme by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu from Kuppam.
The funds will be used for road improvements, dividers, parks, street lighting and other urban infrastructure. The works are currently in the tendering stage.
Another ₹43 crore urban infrastructure package will cover about 27 kilometres of roads, including approximately 25 km of CC roads and 2 km of BT roads, Satya Kumar said.
₹104.28 crore works already underway
Development works worth ₹104.28 crore are currently in progress in Dharamavaram, covering various components of urban infrastructure.
Projects worth ₹72 crore under UIDF-IV and ₹23 crore under UCF Phase-II are awaiting administrative approvals, the minister said.
Once combined with the HAM works, the projects represent a substantial pipeline of investment in the municipality.
Water supply projects
Drinking-water infrastructure forms a significant part of the development programme.
Under AMRUT Phase-I, ₹17.57 crore was sanctioned for LSR construction in Indiramma Colony and Siddhayya Gutta, a new pump house at Yerragunta and installation of pumping equipment. Around 90 percent of the works have been completed.
Under AMRUT Phase-II, another ₹11.18 crore was sanctioned for an LSR at Marutinagar, a Zone-2 pumping main and delivery lines. These works are also around 90 percent complete.
The municipality has received approval for an integrated ₹31.73 crore drinking-water project under AMRUT 2.0. The project includes a 10-MLD water treatment plant, LSRs in Ramnagar, Girraju Colony and Shantinagar and associated pipeline works.
The project is intended to strengthen the existing water-supply system and provide additional capacity for future requirements.
Waste management and drainage projects
Under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, ₹21.68 crore has been allocated for solid and liquid waste-management infrastructure, with works progressing.
The state government has also taken up ₹5.20 crore worth of road, drainage and desilting works.
In addition, ₹72 crore of UIDF-IV projects and ₹23 crore of UCF Phase-II drainage works are at the administrative approval stage.
Dozens of smaller works completed
Using BPS and LRS funds, 13 development works worth ₹3.90 crore have been completed, Satya Kumar said.
Seventeen works funded by the 15th Finance Commission, including CC drains and other infrastructure, have been completed at a cost exceeding ₹4.19 crore. Proposals worth ₹3.67 crore have also been submitted for additional works for 2024-25 and 2025-26.
The municipality has completed another 58 works involving CC roads, drains and related infrastructure using its general funds, spending more than ₹2.23 crore.
A further ₹50 lakh has been sanctioned from MP-LADS funds for construction of a Sadbhavana Bhavan.
Government seeks faster execution
Satya Kumar said the ₹242.28 crore development plan brings together projects under AMRUT 2.0, Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, HAM, UIDF-IV, UCF Phase-II and state government allocations.
He said he would continue to monitor the projects and coordinate with departments to ensure that works at different stages progress in a timely manner.
Improving roads, drainage, drinking-water supply, sanitation, parks and street lighting would remain a priority, the minister said, adding that the government was working to ensure that residents receive the benefits of the infrastructure projects at the earliest.
