AMARAVATI, Sept. 11, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Education and Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh has directed district collectors to prepare and implement special action plans aimed at achieving 100 percent results in schools across the state, while taking targeted measures to improve student performance in board examinations.
During a meeting with collectors on education-related issues, Lokesh called for sustained efforts to raise pass percentages and improve overall academic standards. He said district administrations should identify education-sector challenges at the local level and develop focused strategies to address them.
The minister also stressed the need to strengthen school infrastructure alongside academic performance. Officials were asked to ensure that existing school buildings remain structurally sound and that new construction meets quality standards through effective monitoring. Providing students with a safe and conducive learning environment, he said, remains a key priority of the government.
Lokesh said the government was strengthening links between Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), polytechnic colleges and industries to improve employment opportunities for young people. Courses and training programmes are being redesigned to match the skills demanded by industry, with greater coordination between educational institutions and employers so that students can move into jobs soon after completing their studies.
The minister said the Naipunya web portal was being used to provide young people with employment opportunities as well as access to relevant skill-development tools. The government was taking steps to ensure that the skills of students and job seekers keep pace with changes in the employment market, he said.
The state is also placing greater emphasis on digital and financial literacy, in addition to conventional literacy, Lokesh said. Students need exposure not only to academic knowledge but also to technology and basic financial concepts to prepare them for a rapidly changing world.
Schools are also providing students with awareness and training on safety measures and self-protection during natural disasters. Such programmes are intended to help students remain calm and respond effectively during emergencies, he said.
Lokesh said the government was preparing a road map for curriculum reform to align education with future requirements. The curriculum should go beyond textbook knowledge and promote skills, creativity, technological awareness and life skills among students, he said.
The minister directed collectors to continuously review student performance, school infrastructure, skill development and digital education initiatives. District administrations should closely monitor implementation and take corrective measures wherever gaps are identified, he said.
