Andhra Pradesh Government Revokes Suspension of IPS Officers Kanti Rana Tata, Vishal Gunni

AMARAVATI, Sept. 15, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh government has revoked the suspension of IPS officers Kanti Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni, who had been facing disciplinary action in connection with the case involving Mumbai actor Kadambari Jethwani.

Orders issued by the state government on Tuesday said the two officers had been reinstated in service with effect from Sept. 4 for Kanti Rana Tata and Sept. 5 for Vishal Gunni.

The officers had faced allegations arising from the registration of a case against Jethwani by Ibrahimpatnam police based on an allegedly forged document. The allegations against then-IPS officers P. Seetharam Anjaneyulu, Kanti Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni included abuse of official authority and fabrication of documents and records under alleged political pressure, resulting in cases being registered against Jethwani and members of her family.

The government had suspended the officers after the controversy came to light. P. Seetharam Anjaneyulu, then head of the Intelligence Department and an accused in the case, was also suspended and subsequently retired in August.

With the latest orders, the government has lifted the suspension of Kanti Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni and restored them to service.
