AMARAVATI, Sept. 15, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to implement the government’s Housing for All programme on a saturation basis, with the goal of providing every eligible family in the state with a safe and permanent home by 2029.
Reviewing the Housing Department at his camp office, Naidu set a target of completing 5.52 lakh houses by March 2027. He instructed officials to ground houses under various schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and PM Janman, by next month. He also called for the construction of 1.5 lakh houses in urban areas.
The chief minister directed officials to complete 2.05 lakh houses by December 2026 and another 2.74 lakh houses by March 2027, making them ready for housewarming ceremonies. Officials told him that 18.72 lakh houses had been sanctioned in the state under PMAY 1.0, PMAY 2.0 and PM Janman, of which 13.20 lakh had been completed.
Under the Andhra Pradesh Housing Corporation, 11.31 lakh of 16.11 lakh sanctioned houses have been completed, officials said. In the AP TIDCO programme, 1.88 lakh of 2.61 lakh houses have been completed. Naidu also asked officials to secure sanctions for 75,000 new houses by December 2027 and bring another 1.5 lakh houses into the pipeline, coordinating with the Union ministries of Rural Development and Housing and Urban Affairs to obtain the necessary allocations.
Special Focus on Free House Sites
Naidu called for an integrated database to identify the genuine demand among families without house sites. Data from the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS), Awaas Plus, Housing and Revenue departments should be linked to eliminate duplication and identify eligible beneficiaries, he said.
He directed officials to publish preliminary beneficiary lists at the village and ward secretariat levels, invite objections and resolve them transparently before finalising the lists. Unused land in existing layouts should be reorganised into two- or three-cent plots, based on local requirements, he said.
The chief minister also ordered continuous monitoring—from identification of vacant sites and mapping of eligible beneficiaries to completion of construction. He called for housing to be implemented on a saturation basis in the Kuppam Assembly constituency as well.
“Providing a safe and permanent house to every eligible family by 2029 is the government’s objective,” Naidu said, stressing coordination among departments to achieve the Housing for All target.
Industrial Townships to Support Economic Activity
Naidu also asked the Housing Department to explore the development of industrial townships in different parts of the state with central government support. He said townships in industrial zones, including Sri City, could generate greater economic activity and support local development.
He directed officials to coordinate with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for the development of such townships.
Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy and senior officials from the Housing and Finance departments attended the review meeting.
